Good Read: The Girl With The Louding Voice - Abi Dare

In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

And You Thought You Were An Ardent Star Wars Fan, Oh No You Aren't!!!
You thought you loved your Star Wars, hmm, you brag about your memorabilia and still don the funny outfit and run around the round calling yourself stormtrooper flashing the Darth Vader Lightsaber. Well, there is something new on the scene, sweetie step aside!

Men and their fascinations, their love for amusing and eclectic inventions - An ardent star wars fans from California took it to the next level when he splashed out a lighting display in celebration for the festive season. See for yourselves.

Tom BetGeorge had a display that will take you on an emotional roller-coaster through the Death Star, Mos Eisley Cantina, an epic lightsaber battle, he had this to say
"I find it funny that people say things like, “what does this have to do with Christmas?” In all reality, what do any of our traditions have to really do with Christmas? There were no lights or even a tree to decorate when Jesus was born. I do this because it brings families together to enjoy something for free while raising thousands of dollars for those who are need. Jesus said, “if you love me, obey my commands.” He told us to help those in need - and that’s why I do it and that’s what I think Christmas is really about.
Since 99% of the lights are LEDs, the electricity to run the show for the entire month is about $80. I sequenced the show using LOR, mixed the music/sound effects with Digital Performer, and filmed it using a Sony A7s Mark ii and a Phantom 3 Pro. This is now my third year decorating. I built all the props using wood, metal, acrylic and corrugated plastic. I am a music director for a living (Centerville Presbyterian Church in Fremont), hence the massive instruments! If you look closely (especially during the Cantina song) the instruments are playing the real notes! Although the beams are powerful up close, they are a small percentage of real searchlights and are so widely dispersed that by the time they are up in the sky, they don't interfere with aircraft etc. The guitar is 17', the piano is 19' and the drums are standard. About 20,000 channels running around 70,000 lights.
Merry Christmas everyone!"
He also praised his neigbours for their co-operation and community spirit in making it all a success.

Who needs a fair ride when you have this in the community?
