  In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Success And The Sibling Coattail Effect

Why is it that when a sibling in the family makes it big, the other members are accused of riding on coattails. Comments like "without your sibling, you would not have become successful". Is that a factual or a spiteful statement?, knowing fully well that everyone can attain success, if they put in the work with grit and passion.


Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji's younger sister, Laura, who has made a name for herself as a fashion enterpreneur, must have got the sharp end of a comment, when she retorted in her IG page with the words: “One i***t just told me that Without Linda, I’m nothing. Boo listen, Of course she paved a way for me but regardless I would still be very successful, we re very determined in my family, everyone works, there are some successful people in Naija that I know but can’t mention names that can’t point a sibling that is doing well let alone very successful. Journalists who interview such siblings tend to create a buzz of friction intentionally, which could only be handled with tact and diplomacy. Sincerely speaking, can a sibling not be successful in his/her own right without all the derogatory accusations? Kindly feel free to leave your comments.
