Good Read: The Girl With The Louding Voice - Abi Dare

In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Nigeria's OAP Freeze Attacks Olajumoke's Success Over A Graduate's First Class Degree

Nigeria's OAP Freeze Attacks Olajumoke's Success,
Ayodele           Olajumoke          Lady Spotted by Ciara

There will always be complainers or haters as they are called, Olajumoke on the rise is giving some people headache - they cannot over-stand that God works in mysterious ways. Does it really take a college degree to make one successful, in the wake of global mass unemployment? How do you quantify is real achievement?

OAP Freeze of Cool Fm Nigeria took his IG page to pen his thoughts in a provoking article, it can be read after the jump...

'POVERTY MENTALITY'
When are Nigerians going to celebrate real achievements? On the left is Mr. Ayodele Daniel Dada the first Nigerian to finish university with a perfect CGPA of 5.0 and on the left is Mrs. Olajumoke Orisaguna a 'former' bread seller.
Before Ayodele, no one had EVER finished with a perfect CGPA in UNILAG!!! Since it was established in 1962, he made history by becoming the first to achieve such a commendable feat!
Now so many questions come to mind. How come my dear friend Kunbi of 'April with Kunbi' hasn't styled him or recommended him for styling? How come CNN hasn't done a story on him? How come his life isn't documented on blogs daily? How come he isn't a brand ambassador for any product? The questions are ceaseless. Ciara put up a post of an equally beautiful traffic hawker selling some type of fruit yesterday and she was described, in Ciara's own words as 'beautiful and talented'. If these two 'hawker beauties' were discovered less than 2 months apart, it means that beautiful girls that hawk commodities aren't in short supply in Lagos. While people who finish with with a 5.0 CGPA are almost non existent! It took 54 years to produce the first one!
While Olajumoke and this other lady are rough stones that could be polished to achieve a lustrous shine, Ayodele is a true jewel, a rare yellow diamond in its truest and purest form. Let's not let our 'poverty mentality', that makes things of lesser importance seem valuable, cloud our judgement. I have no objection to polishing stones to bring out their shine, but please let's not do it at the expense of gems of inestimable value! The outcome of our future depends largely on 'what' or 'whom' we invest in. If Japan, Switzerland or America invested their time and money in pretty bread sellers, we won't have the brains behind their automotive, aeronautic, horological or financial achievements today. I'm not saying we shouldn't celebrate Olajumoke o! Before people call me a hater but like hell we must celebrate Ayodele first! Just my thought on a Saturday evening~FRZ
I hope the billionaires of the world are reading this who did not attain a college degree or even dropped out of college, yet they still made it successful in all their endeavors. Has Freeze got a point or he is just frozen with the meteoric rise of Olajumoke, the erstwhile bread hawker who is making waves in Nigeria as a successful model. Share your thoughts.

If graduates from red-brick universities round the world cannot get jobs in Nigeria and Phd holders are driving Dangote's lorries, should they be amused of a 5.0 GPA? Ayodele would find his helpers in due course who would guide him in the right path.

Everyone's calling is different. Let Olajumoke live, all brains are not equal!
