In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Professor Oluwole Laments On The Decline Of The Mother Tongue, "To Be Educated In Nigeria Is To Speak English"

With the introduction of modern technology also came the advancement of languages, now you have to be fluent in more than one language in almost all spheres of life to relate well in business and amongst people.

Professor Sophie Oluwole expressed her views on how yoruba language is easily been phased out. But is this true??? For the diasporians, we can all relate to how we lament on how other cultures outside Nigeria embrace their culture publicly. We as Nigerians are not lagging behind, if the elders prefer not to speak the language and the youths create their own slang, that is where the problem lies, but for those who are still in tune are not doing bad.

I know Japanese speak their language in the office and with their clients, If that happens in Nigeria, it would be great. but will it ever happen???
