  In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Meet Warsan Shire, The Somali-British Poet Behind Beyonce's "Lemonade" Album

At the moment, It seems Beyonce's "Lemonade" album that was released on April 23 on HBO has whipped up some frenzy - the lyrics on the album is causing her beehives pain, and the lyrical fury of infidelity accusations has tend to take over the Internet. Talk about making lemonade out of a marital friction!

Be it known that the writer of some of the lyrics is credited to Warsan Shire a wordsmith, who was named as the first Young Poet Laureate of London in 2014. It seems Beyonce tends to look to Africa to get very best of powerful female vocal representation to express her creativity and emotions across to her fans. 

From Nigeria's acclaimed novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie featured on "flawless", and now to Warsan Shire. The power of words that can subtly cause a gentle fury is not child's play to whom it is intended. Was this album a post-marital therapy song for Beyonce?



Beyonce is said to have infused some Nigerian creativity for her Lemonade album.  Maki Oh for her clothes collection and Laolu Senbanjo for his body art work on the "Sorry" single. Good on you Beyonce for spreading out your creativity.
