Good Read: The Girl With The Louding Voice - Abi Dare

In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Dead Romance! Man Advertises for Partner Ebola apocalypse

Who said romance is dead?  Making deadly excuse for finding a wife is not funny but may be found amusing by some. A savvy man has come up with a novel (and creepy) way to find a mate by using the deadly Ebola virus.

An advert was posted to Craiglist.com titled ‘Escape the Apocalypse with me’ in which the poster asked for a female companion to join him in his bunker in preparation for the end of the world that will inevitably follow the Ebola scare.

The lothario uses the classic ‘we might need to re-populate the earth’line in the advert, and seduces potential love interests by claiming that he has a ‘hidden sustainable bug out shelter well off the grid and completely self sufficient’.

Things get a little bit more creepy when the poster, believed to be from Boston, asks that the woman who comes with him is ‘fertile’ and stipulates that he expects her to bare him ‘at least three children’.

However the cherry on this giant crazy cake reads as follows: ‘I have already transferred my life savings into gold and I recommend you do the same even if you choose not to respond or try to survive with me.’

The advert may well be a joke, however it was recently taken down which suggests that either some poor soul actually answered it, or the post-apocalyptic warrior realised he was jumping the gun a little and removed the post.
