  In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Ebola: Nigeria to Despatch 506 Volunteers

According to PR Nigeria Online, The Government of Nigeria has  pledged to despatch 506 Volunteers To Liberia, Guinea And Sierra Leone To Help Contain the ebola virus. The Minister of State and Supervising Minister of Health, Dr. Khaliru Alhassan disclosed that the Federal Government has developed a National Ebola preparedness plan with all elements to work with the state governments to activate their incident management systems, to strengthen national preparedness which will ensure prompt response to a potential outbreak should it occur again.

He emphasised that active surveillance is essential to detect chains of transmissions that might otherwise remain hidden, hinting that for proper coordination of these activities, Government is immediately setting up a National Emergency Operation Centre in Abuja.

 He advised the public to remain vigilant and to immediately call the Ebola-Helpline (0800-EBOLA-HELP) or seek immediate medical attention in the event of suspected cases of sudden onset of fever, intense weakness, muscle pains, headache and sore throat. He stressed that this will enable the health authorities detect any re-introduction of the disease and contain any possible spread.
