In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Buhari Criticises President Jonathan On Bad Leadership

Buhari criticises Jonathan
There has been lots of people and politicians attacking the government of President G.E.Jonathan of Nigeria in his run for re-election as president come 2015. This time the criticism is coming directly from an ex-military president cum presidential aspirant for 2015 elections, Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the daily post, he has asserted that no right thinking Nigerian would be favourably disposed to voting for President Goodluck Jonathan in next year’s presidential election, stressing that it would amount to approving the sustenance of all that is presently wrong with the country.

The former head of state made this known in a statement posted on his Facebook page last night, where he also upbraided supporters of the present administration for spreading a message of fear which he noted was informed by their support of the very things that have degraded the country. The Facebook post reads,
“Those who are afraid of the change we seek are the people destroying our country and stunting its progress. They are the same people who spent four years in power without improving our electricity by a single megawatt, the same people who spent four years downgrading high-level corruption to common stealing, the same people who spent four years watching over terrorists desecrating our territorial sovereignty, the same people who spent four years without laying the critical infrastructure for sustainable growth and job creation; those same people are now asking you for four more years.
In my own views, even though it is over 30 years now, when Buhari ruled Nigeria, it was Major Gen. Tunde Idiagbon that was more or less the deputy who ruled the nation with hands of steel. He was feared and respected for his no nonsense approach to indiscipline and drug trafficking. Till his absence in office led to another military takeover by Major Gen I.B.Babaginda. Would Buhari have learnt his lesson over the years to now bring the much desired change Nigeria and Nigerians need?
