  In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

David Oyelowo Joins Lupita In Adichie's Americanah

It is no longer news that David Oyelowo will join Lupita Nyong'o in the cast of Americanah as written by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Americanah centres on two young Nigerians, Ifemelu and Obinze, who are separated after falling in love. Determined to leave a nation riven by military dictatorship, Ifemelu secures a place at an American university shortly after 9/11. Obinze is unable to secure a visa and instead suffers as an undocumented immigrant in London.

Adichie’s book won the 2013 US National Book Critics Circle award for fiction and was named one of the 10 best books of the year by the New York Times Book Review, the BBC and Newsday. She is the 37-year-old author of "Purple Hibiscus", "Half Of A Yellow Sun", which has been made into a film and "The Thing Around Your Neck"  The film will be produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B outfit.

A man in Nigeria was caught and confronted by army officers for wearing a camouflage vest. He was later apprehended; but the impostor's response was not forthcoming but highly hilarious.
