Nigerian Pastors In Politics... Is It Necessary To Get Involved?

"Godliness exalts a nation...” Proverbs 14:34.

“Without wise leadership, a nation is in trouble, but with good counsellors there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14.

In the Old Testament, Joseph served God in the office of presidency.

Jesus said we were to be salt and light in the world. We are to exercise kingdom Influence for the benefit of all.

"Archbishop Desmond Tutu said in the thick of the battle against apartheid, 'When people say that the Bible and politics don't mix, I ask them which Bible they are reading'".

In Nigeria, there has been lots of wranglings with reference to the imminent political elections and the involvement of church leaders from Bishop David Oyedepo (Winners Chapel), Pastor E.A. Adeboye (the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God), and a whole host of pastors. How does this help the country and its citizens? 

Accusations has been thrown at the pastors for taking sides, taking bribes and not solving the dilemma facing the country at present. 

Why can't the pastors and emirs join forces and address the issues facing the populace at large. Is it not one God we all profess to serve? Is there no inter religious peace building body which includes Catholic, Protestant and Muslim leaders.
