In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Priyanka Yoshikawa Causes A Stir As She Is Crowned Miss World Japan 2016

Japan is finally embracing diversity when it comes to international representations, but what are the citizens saying about it? The first beauty contestant to cause a stir in the beauty pageant stakes was Miss Ariana Miyamoto, whose father is African-American, was chosen as Japan's representative to the Miss Universe contest in 2015.

Now it is the turn of Miss Priyanka Yoshikawa, 22, who is of Japanese and Indian ethnicity. She was crowned on Monday to represent Japan in Miss World contest in 2016. It has caused a lot of backlash from the media, and the certified elephant trainer is taking it all in her stride.

"Miss Japan is 'haafu'. I'm so happy!" wrote one social media commentator. Others said the two mixed-race choices showed Japan was more accepting of ethnic diversity.
Some were puzzled or critical. Miss Japan should "look good in kimono," said one person in a comment on Yahoo. Another said, "She's not bad, but wasn't there a pure Japanese to represent Japan?"
"We’ve been told how Japanese look," she added. "How our faces are. We have to be pale, or the Asian look. But things change. It’s a small island, but we have a lot of people from other countries and we have a lot more 'hafus' in every single year."
