  In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

First Ladies Meet Up At 'Broadway Shines A Light On Girls’ Education' Event

Nigeria's first lady, Mrs Buhari is currently in New York for the opening of the 71st UN General Assembly. As an ambassador, she was involved in a series of meetings on Tuberculosis and Cancer, of which she delivered a speech on the needs for early detection and eradication of the disease. 

The first lady also joined other first ladies from other countries and broadway stars at a charity event which aimed to empower the girl child.

The event which took place yesterday at the Bernard B. Jacobs theater in New York's Times Square, gave First Lady Michelle Obama the opportunity to speak about her global Let Girls Learn Initiative. 
“I want to be clear that as First Lady of the United States I have no budget of my own for programs, I have no authority to make or pass laws, and I cannot issue any kind of executive orders. When people hear the stories of girls who aren’t in school they want to help. And as spouses of world leaders, so many of us here in this room have platforms to tell these stories and bring people together to take action for these girls.”
