In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

BBC's Exposé Of Underage African Footballers Trafficked To Laos

in the name of football
BBC has uncovered the lengths at which underage African boys go through to fulfill their ambition of becoming great footballers. The sport's world governing body Fifa forbids the movement of players to foreign clubs until they reach 18, but one NGO estimates that about 15,000 teenage players are moved out of Africa every year - many of them illegally.

"Fifa is in contact with several member associations in order to gather all information to assess the matter and safeguard the interests of the minors," a Fifa spokesperson told the BBC.
The game of football can sometimes be a call for desperation amongst Africans young and old. Aged footballers lying about their age to continue playing the game, while underage minors are been trafficked illegally to play at senior levels! - Can't win. When will Fifa actually put a ban on this practice? Is this really a secret, or a willful blind behaviour from all parties concerned.
