In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Barack Obama Is The First President To Visit US Prision, Talks On Reform

From the White House to the big house, President Obama is the sitting president to visit a federal prison today as part of his push for changes to the criminal justice system.

The president had the door to Cell 123  opened and he stared inside. In the space of 9 feet by 10, he saw three bunks, a toilet with no seat, a small sink, metal cabinets, a little wooden night table with a dictionary and other books, and the life he might have had.

Obama prison reforms
"We have to consider whether this is the smartest way for us to both control crime and rehabilitate individuals. We have to reconsider whether 20 year, 30 year, life sentences for nonviolent crimes is the best way for us to solve these problems. After viewing a small cell that can hold up to three inmates, Obama said: "This is an outstanding institution within the system, and yet they've got enormous overcrowding issues.
I think we have a tendency sometimes to almost take for granted, or think it's normal, that so many young people end up in our criminal justice system," Obama said. "It's not normal. It's not what happens in other countries.
What is normal is teenagers doing stupid things. The difference is that they did not have the kind of support structures, the second chances, the resources that would allow them to survive those mistakes." -  President Obama.
