In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Would You Eat Activated Charcoal?

The all purpose activated charcoal
You would wonder who in their right frame of mind would eat charcoal, C-H-A-R-C-O-A-L! Why should they put charcoal anywhere near their mouth in the first place. History has it that charcoal has its numerous benefits for health internally and externally. I and my friends once asked a woman in Lagos to give us some charcoal that had been burnt for our use and she vehemently refused for reasons known to her.

I decided to give it a try, a small amount of charcoal on a teaspoon in water and gulp it down, it is tasteless and had to drink tons of water to flush out the impurities in my body, felt lighter afterwards.

Some of the benefits of charcoal are
Good for teeth whitening and removing plaque
Bloated stomach - Relieves digestion thereby keeping the body in good condition
Activated charcoal is good for removing toxins from the body
Good for weight loss
Facial mask - Charcoal adsorbs bacteria and dirt to the surface of the skin, thereby leaving the skin radiant

They can be purchased from the health stores or the market and should not be used for a long period of time.
