In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Nigeria Presidential Elections, Peaceful And Credible

Nigeria Presidential Elections, Free, Fair And Orderly
The presidential elections that took place in Nigeria on the 28th March, 2015 has been praised for its orderliness despite some glitches.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said in a statement voting had been "largely peaceful and orderly". Mr Ban praised the "determination and resilience" of Nigerian voters, despite reports of attacks by Boko Haram militants and others. He urged voters to maintain a "peaceful atmosphere and to exercise patience" throughout the process.

His comments were echoed by John Kufuor, the head of the regional bloc ECOWAS, who said the process has been "quite peaceful, orderly and credible". He observed that the turnout of voters was generally high with a laudable participation of women and young people who displayed commendable level of patience and discipline.
“Security agents were present at most of the polling stations and on patrols in and around the cities as peaceful atmosphere prevailed in most parts of the country,’’ he said.
President Jonathan told the BBC's Peter Okwoche that most of the violence there was not related to the elections.
"The war against terrorists is going on, voting or no voting," he said. "There was a conflict, kind of a crossfire, between soldiers and terrorists that had nothing to do with the elections."
