  In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Policeman Burnt To Death On Third Mainland Bridge
Lagos: A policeman was burnt beyond recognition on the third mainland bridge, while his colleagues were taken to hospital with severe burns.

Some officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said the two men were riding the motorcycle towards the Oworonshoki area of the state, when the incident happened.

Punch Metro reports that the motorcycle was said to have a lone crash and tumbled on the men. As the policemen were still smarting from the pain of the fall, the fuel in the bike reportedly spilled on the exhaust pipe, which ignited fire and resulted in an explosion.

The policemen were said to be carrying tear gas canisters and some other inflammable materials, which were said to have worsened the incident.

While one of the officers was burnt beyond recognition, the other was rescued by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) officials.
