Good Read: The Girl With The Louding Voice - Abi Dare

In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Vogue Brazil's Paralympics 2016 Advert Backlash, Able Bodied Actors Photo-shopped As Disabled

Can someone spot what is wrong with this picture? They are actors who have been photo-shopped by Vogue Brazil, as being disabled to promote the 2016 Paralympics, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 September to 18 September 2016. The real photo can be revealed after the break.

The images of actors Cleo Pires and Paulo Vilhena, who are ambassadors for the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB), appeared in Vogue Brazil under the tag “We are all Paralympians”.
“There’s no shortage of disabled people to take the place of spokesperson in these adverts and show society that yes, they exist and they deserve as much space in the media as us,” said Natália Belizario on the feminist website Lado M.
“No, we are not all Paralympians. We still do not understand the reality of people with disabilities.
“We can all be supporters of the Paralympic movement, but it is always good to remember that the role, more than ever, is not ours.”
Clayton Carneiro, Vogue Brasil's art director, defended the campaign: “We knew it would be a punch in the gut, but we were there for a good cause. After all, almost no one bought tickets to see the Paralympic games.”
