  In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Who really is the oldest man alive? Guinness book of records seem to give us details of old people they can get hold of, but who really is the oldest man or woman alive. Enter Mr Mbah Gotho,  from Sragen, Central Java, is 145 years old and he has birth certificate to prove it.

 He has outlived his siblings, wives, children and his survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. What would the senior citizen wish for if he had one?

"He wants to die" - Suryanto, Mbah’s grandson, said his grandfather has been preparing for his death ever since he was 122, but it never seemed to come. He said: "The gravestone there was made in 1992. That was 24 years ago. When asked what is the secret to Mbah's longevity, he replied "Patience".

His documentation regarding his birth certificate has not yet been verified, but does it really matter? When one is young their birthday counts, but when one is very old - 100+, what good is their birthday, apart from showing gratitude to God for his mercies and blessings. 

Isn't life funny, there are people who want to live till a ripe old age, and when they achieve that, all they ever complain about is death has evaded them!

Heard that there are two old people who surpass Mbah in age, 171-year-old James Olofintuyi from Nigeria and 163-year-old Dhaqabo Ebba from Ethiopia.
