Good Read: The Girl With The Louding Voice - Abi Dare

In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Something Is Not Adding Up - Twitter User Says

Reading Sam Leith's article in the Evening Standard, yesterday, which reads...

The past couple of days have given another gloomy sense of how news values work. I’m not thinking of the massacre in Paris but rather the one in the town of Baga near Nigeria’s border with Chad — where Boko Haram fighters are reported to have killed more than 2,000 people, mostly women, children and old people.
I suppose some will think it pious and hand-wringing to draw attention to it, and of course the circumstances are different, but you have to admit it’s striking.
Some 3,000-odd Americans killed by Islamists in 2001 was the biggest news story for 20 years and changed the entire world order. Two thousand Nigerians killed by Islamists in 2015 doesn’t even make the top of the news on the day".
Everyone is caught up in the euphoria of elections and campaigns, yet they forget the main thing at hand - Boko Haram. Each presidential candidate making promises of restoring electricity  and giving freebies to the masses if elected into power. What about using your expertise in tackling Boko Haram. France tackled their own warfare - and they are now celebrated and revered for it. Nigeria what is going on.

The maths might not add up - but change will have to start with us before anyone can bring assistance our way. If Nigerian leaders are not showing concern - What should the International community do?

Kindly show support by leaving a comment or feel free to share your thoughts - Thank you.
