  In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Meet Nigeria's Esther Otubo, The Madam Who Lures Ladies To Dubai For Prostitution

Meet Esther Nicole Otubo, the Nigerian Dubai-based pimp who is known for conducting a sex trafficking ring in Dubai using manipulating and intimidating tactics on desperate ladies. Watch dehumanising clip after cut.

From the clip the audible voice in the background is that of Esther Nicole Otubo, while the naked lady named Chisom is a mother of one, she is being coerced to take an oath of allegiance in a dehumanizing manner. As Esther manipulates and taunts her victim, she tells her exactly what will become of her fate if she fails to carry out instructions given to her. She has to work and pay her thirty thousand ($30,000) dollars.

During the just concluded Presidential election in Nigeria, Mrs Buhari, was heavily criticised when she spoke against human trafficking during a campaign stopover in Benin city. The truth is that thousands of Nigerian girls are held in bondage by pimps who took them abroad for prostitution. 

There are many Madam Esther Otubo's out there. Under Buhari's administration,  the first lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari could curb the dastard activities of these perpetuating such shameless acts. An awareness drive should be raised at home and abroad for these young ladies who are taken abroad in the guise of a better life, only to end up working as prostitutes. It has become one of Nigeria's shame to date.
