  In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

The organisers of the ugly pageant in Zimbabwe are on the look out for new entries. David Machowa, the organiser said he has received a lot of interesting entries which will be whittled down to 12 from 36 for the event that will take place on the 20th November, 2015 in Harare.


“People have always seen ugliness as something to be ashamed of, looks are God given. We should all be proud of who we are.”
There is no female version of the pageant - Which lady wants to be called ugly, even if she is!!!

The current winner,  William Masvinu has held the title since 2012, he hopes he would get advertising contracts from his looks, but till date, nothing has materialised.

Are there no actors out there that could give him a body double role?

The armed force are known for not joking around when it comes to spotting impostors wearing their outfits, whereas in some quarters, this could also be worn as a fashion statement! A man in Nigeria was caught and confronted by army officers for wearing a camouflage vest. He was later apprehended; but the impostor's response was not forthcoming but highly hilarious.
