Good Read: The Girl With The Louding Voice - Abi Dare

In this remarkable story, Adunni, the main character, depicts ambition fuelled with a burning desire to succeed despite all odds. Tales of this type still abound in Lagos, and they are portrayed in the media daily. Adunni is hailed as the poor girl with a rich mind, "Sherlock Holmes," who never stops asking intelligent questions, a child-bride, and a strong-willed girl who grew up fast due to the circumstance her parents put her through. However, she had the guts to pursue the life she wanted. - An education by any means necessary.  Adunni finally got her groove back after reading such an easy book, I could relate to the characters there. the harsh and despicable reality of Lagos till date. I would recommend this book to my friends and would love to see it turned into a film.

Battle Of The Scents: Lidl Takes On Coco Chanel

I am sure you might have heard the gist that has been taking people by storm, Lidl's "Madame Glamour" £4 perfume that smells like Coco Chanel's "Mademoiselle" which goes for £70. Lidl, a budget superstore is seriously giving the big stores a run for their money.
Mr Lewis told The Independent: “There are many 'smell-alike' perfumes on the market and a perfect example of this is the Lidl’s perfume and the Coco Mademoiselle. “This is something we discovered on my TV show [Martin Lewis Money Show], when we got some people to smell them. About 50% of them either couldn’t tell the difference or preferred the cheap version.”
This Lidl’s fragrance “with citrus and floral notes, incorporating bergamot and jasmine” has become “one of the most popular beauty items and a household favourite”.
A spokesperson for Lidl told The Independent: “Two independent consumer panel blind tests carried out by the Perfumer's Guild on the Lidl Suddenly Madame Glamour perfume against a hugely popular designer branded perfume revealed incredible results - 50 women in the first test voted overwhelmingly for the Lidl perfume with 89% saying they would prefer to wear it over the designer brand. And, 90% of the 100 women who blind tested the perfumes in the second round said they also preferred the Lidl perfume.”
I hope you are not thinking health and safety, if the perfume is real. Mr Martin Lewis from Money Saving expert had this to say:
Brands like Lidl and Next –which has a smell-alike perfume to a Ralph Lauren number - are both legitimate. “These are not copies and I’d expect them to have a higher duty of care. And no, this is not a copy nor illegal.”
Different bottles, different price, same scent.....

Shine your nose this Christmas and spot a bargain.
